Castlefield:

of history Manchester has to offer. This was the site of the 79AD Roman
Mamuciun. This is where the name Manchester was derived from. The area
is surrounded by the river Irwell, Quay Street, Deansgate and Chester
Road. It is also home to the Bridgewater canal, the world’s first
industrial canal which was built in 1764.
